So Cal Crank In – July 2023

I’m hosting a Crank-In in Southern California on Saturday, July 29th!

If you have or are curious about CSMs (Circular Sock Knitting Machines), please join in the fun!

Below you’ll find all the details for this upcoming event later this month. Space is limited, so if you want to join us, please make sure you click on the button below to sign up to attend!

What’s Happening

A Crank In is an opportunity for crankers to meet and learn from each other. But you might also be wondering about what a “Cranker” is. It’s someone who uses a CSM (Circular Sock Knitting Machine) to create socks and beautiful tubes!

This So Cal Crank In will be a general get-together to meet others with CSMs, share tips and tricks, and see different machines. I’m hoping we can make this a recurring thing and hopefully have some lessons in the future if there is enough interest!

When and Where

This So Cal Crank In will be held at Sewing Arts Center in Los Angeles on Saturday, July 29th.

Sewing Arts Center
2306 Corinth Ave
Los Angeles, CA 90064

The shop is just off the 405 Freeway between Pico Blvd and Olympic Blvd. Their building is just behind the Best Buy on Pico Blvd.

Their classroom is booked for our group from 9:30 am until 3:00 pm. Another class starts in our room at 3:30 pm, so we have a hard out at 3:00 pm.

Logistics

The room has space for 20 attendees to bring their machines to set up and work.  The room has 10 workstations, each with its own power source. The tables are big enough that we can have 2 people at each station on different sides of the table. This is how we got to 20 attendees. If you plan to join us, please be sure to complete the Sign Up below!

The tables are 1″ thick, and I had no trouble attaching my AutoKnitter. No one should need to bring their own individual table unless you absolutely need it to work from.

The shop does have a couple of rules we need to follow:

  1. Everyone who enters must wear a mask, no exceptions.
  2. The only food or drink allowed in the classroom is bottled water.

What To Bring

Bring an adventurous spirit to meet other people and a willingness to share tips & tricks and experiences you’ve had with your CSM.

I’ll send out a PDF Check List to all attendees the week of the event with suggested equipment you will likely need and want to bring along.

Cost

There is a room rental cost, so I’ll ask for a donation of whatever amount you want to make on the day of the Crank-In.

As a reminder, space is limited to 20 machines for this Crank In due to the size of the room.  If you plan to join us, it is vital that you click on the link below.

If you do not yet have a machine but are interested in learning more about CSMs, please use the Contact Form to reach out and let me know. We can accommodate a few people without machines to come and watch! Please do not complete the form.

We look forward to seeing you and doing a lot of cranking on July 29th!
